My heart hurts just thinking that the Queen and the Duke will not live forever. I’m pretty sure the world is not going to be the same when they are not here anymore.

Their Majesties the King George V and Queen Mary with the little Princess Elizabeth of York, at Craigwell House, Bognor.

To the young Princess Elizabeth, King George V was “Grandpa England” and he spent as much time with her as his duties allowed because she so delighted him.

There was even a sweet story of an astonished Archbishop of Canterbury, Arthur Foley Winnington-Ingram who arrived for an audience to find him crawling about on all fours entertaining Lilibet, as the young Elizabeth was known.

Buckingham Palace has said that The Queen is feeling “under the weather” and has decided not to attend an engagement on Thursday.

The 92-year-old Monarch was due to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral marking the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George.

The Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, will now attend the engagement in place of Her Majesty.

It is understood that there is no cause for alarm following the cancelling of this engagement and that there has been no involvement from doctors or hospitals.

Her Majesty will still travel to Windsor this afternoon as planned and has a busy few days ahead next week in Scotland as she conducts a variety of engagements during her annual summer visit to the country.
